In today’s fast-moving world, ongoing education and training aren’t just nice to have—they’re a smart move for any company. When you invest in your team’s development, you’re boosting growth and staying ahead of the competition. Well-trained employees tend to stay motivated, bring fresh ideas, and quickly adapt to new technologies and industry changes, keeping the company flexible and future-ready.
Plus, when learning becomes part of the company culture, everyone benefits. Employees grow personally and professionally, and they feel more empowered to contribute to the company’s success. It's a win-win!
Irina, HR Manager: Having an educational budget provides our colleagues an opportunity to keep learning and developing in their roles. Throughout the year, they are busy completing online and in-person courses and certifications. This investment in personal growth leads to increased job satisfaction, loyalty, and collaboration, as employees are more likely to share knowledge and innovate together.
Today, we asked our colleagues from different teams: What did you learn recently?
Jackie, Graphic Design Lead:
I took the course called 101 Design System, that focuses on teaching how to create and implement an effective Design System within an organization. A Design System acts as a single source of truth that consolidates a company’s best practices, fostering collaboration among teams to efficiently build and develop products at scale.
The course is led by Dan Mall, one of the foremost experts and pioneers in Design Systems. He has built a content-rich platform where he teaches various courses on this topic.
The course delves into the complexities of Design Systems, highlighting that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It emphasizes learning from mistakes and finding the right approach for your specific work environment.
While developing and implementing a Design System is challenging and time-consuming, the benefits are substantial, including enhanced efficiency, better team collaboration, improved user experience, and a stronger brand identity, among many others.
This course has provided me with a fresh perspective on Design Systems and a deeper understanding of our products. It has also sparked new ideas for refining our processes and fostering a more integrated and collaborative work environment.
Andrea Monika, Company Safety Representative:
The Mental Health in the Workplace course shows the impact of mental health on both employees and organizational performance, teaches how to recognize the early signs of mental health problems, and highlights the importance of creating a culture of openness, support, and resilience.
This course is structured in a way that allows participants to gradually build their understanding and skills while applying what they learn to real-world situations. It very clearly describes various mental health challenges, prevention strategies, ways to manage complicated situations, and applies it to business in order to understand the impact of such situations in the workplace.
The most surprising and remarkable elements of this course are the discovery of how mental health profoundly influences all aspects of working life, the hidden costs of neglecting it, and the powerful but often simple interventions that can make a significant difference.
As awareness grows and more people advocate for open discussion, the conversation about mental health is slowly becoming more normalised, encouraging a more supportive and understanding approach to mental wellness.
Nemanja, Performance Marketing Manager:
Recently, I completed the course called Performance Max Mastery.
The course was about a new type of campaign that Google is pushing heavily on the traffic-purchasing side. It was split into many parts—from fundamentals, to working with data and assets, strategy, and optimizations they use with their clients.
This course was surprisingly interesting from start to finish. One outstanding thing is that they provide a private Discord channel for customers to ask questions with any problems they have. Everything within this course was new for me, as we haven’t used this type of campaign before.
Mandy, Content Lead:
Recently I completed the Managers Mental Health Awareness course.
The course is focused on gaining better awareness and understanding of mental health, and especially on explaining how important this knowledge and open communication about mental health is for a company.
The goal was to understand how widespread mental health challenges are and how important it is to recognize early signs and communicate openly about them. As a supervisor, it's crucial to support individuals on their path to recovery or, in the case of chronic conditions, to adjust the work environment accordingly. The course provided insights into the possible causes and triggers of mental health conditions such as phobias, anxiety, and depression.
One of the key learnings that has stuck with me is the following comparison: when you see someone with a broken leg, you can easily imagine how restricted they are and how much they are suffering, which makes it easy to show empathy. However, mental conditions are different: they are not something that can be easily seen externally. And what people cannot see and grasp, they often find difficult to understand.
What I found particularly interesting was the lesson on overcoming the stigma associated with mental health and becoming aware of and reconsidering one's own negative initial thoughts and feelings.
Misha, Software Developer:
I am now in the preparation stage of passing the Symfony certification. Symfony is quite a big set of PHP Components: you can use all components, or only those needed for building an application. They are good, secure, tested, flexible and fast.
Symfony has only one certification - the official certification from the creators of the Symfony framework. The main benefit of preparing and completing this certification is deep knowledge of the whole framework, best practices, of where and how to use it more powerfully. It's possible to pass the exam only online. There are two levels of passing the exam - "Expert Developer" or "Advanced Developer" depending on the score you will get.
For now, I am reading the documentation, working every day with Symfony, and diving deep into the code and preparation routine myself. One month before the exam I will also make a monthly subscription for SensioLabs University e-learning platform, to fill my knowledge gaps and practice on more real examples and tests.
George, Graphic Designer:
The last course I completed is the 3D Design Course. The online course was about designing 3D objects, characters, and using software called Blender. It gave a good foundation and understanding of the software, which was new to me, and went through various aspects about 3D design like lighting and materials. It talked you through creating some objects like palm trees and surfboards as well as creating a 3D bedroom with furniture and plants.
The platform I used, Skillshare, also offers other courses which I want to use to continue to build on what I already know.
I think the surprising thing about doing a course, is how quickly you can begin to grasp and understand something that seemed so complex beforehand. And even though the designs that I’m creating aren’t perfect, they inspire me to work in different ways.
I learnt a new software and the beginnings of 3D design, which gave me a good basis on which I can continue to build.
We are so proud of our incredible team and would like to take this opportunity to thank every Gimmemore team member for their great contribution!
